Student success in school is directly tied to attendance. Responsibility for attending class lies with the student and the parent/guardian.
When students are absent, parent/guardians are expected to call the school attendance line at 720-424-8901 to report the absence. When students return to school after an absence, parents/guardians should send a written note explaining the reason for the absence. The note should include present date, student’s first and last name, dates of absence, reason for absence and parent/guardian signature. After three consecutive days of absence, a doctor’s note is required as well.
If a student does not attend school during the day, they may not participate in school socials or after-school activities for that day. Students with half-day absences must receive permission from the principal to participate in after-school activities for that day.
Students are required to be present at their classroom exterior door by 8:50 a.m. If students arrive at 9:00 or later, the are considered tardy and must report to the office to get a tardy slip before going to class. A tardy is unexcused if no valid reason is given by either a phone call or note from a parent/guardian to the office the day of the tardy. Three unexcused tardies equal an unexcused absence. Students who are signed out before 3:50 p.m., must have a valid excuse, i.e. doctor/dentist appointment, etc.
Students should report to school no earlier than 8:35 a.m., when playground supervision begins. Please do not drop students off before that time as there is no supervision for them!
