City Year Denver Americorps members serve full-time in school, beginning with greeting students as they arrive in the morning to provide a positive start to their day. Throughout the day City Year AmeriCorps members provide school-wide initiatives focused on increasing student engagement and school culture while also providing in-classroom support to help teachers. They also provide one-on-one tutoring and mentoring for students who need additional support with attendance, behavior, or literacy course performance in classes. Corps members also help run after school programs, clubs, and sports, and offer homework help after the school day.

City Year is an education-focused, nonprofit organization founded in 1988 partners with public schools to help keep students in school and on track to graduate. In 27 communities across the United States and through two international affiliates, this innovative public-private partnership brings together teams of young AmeriCorps members who commit to a year of full-time service in schools.
